Cutting out dairy has been found to have many health benefits with very few, if any negatives. The confusion on milk being an essential part of everyone’s diet is based on the fact that milk is a prime source of calcium, potassium, and vitamin D. Milk contains many contaminants that range from natural and artificial hormones to pesticides. Hormones that are consumed through milk affect the in many ways; most common and undetected being weight gain. Cows are also treated with antibiotics that are passed along during milk production and distributed in dairy products. According to studies pesticides that are consumed by the cows food are another harmful product distributed through dairy.
With all the new data out on the controversial effects of milk consumption, non-dairy substitutes are becoming increasingly popular.
Cutting out dairy from your diet doesn’t mean you will have to give up any of the foods you are used to eating. Any recipe that calls for milk can be replaced with one of the milk substitutes with little difference. The most popular milk substitutes are: soy milk, almond milk, coconut milk, and rice milk.
